Psychological Support Clinical Lead – (0.1 WTE/ 1 pa p/w) Fixed-Term for 12 months
North East London Cancer Alliance has a remit to improve and transform cancer patient pathways from prevention through to end-of-life care.
To deliver our goals for cancer services, we work in close partnership with stakeholders across the North East London Integrated Care Board which includes hospital trusts, public health teams, charities, and community groups across seven boroughs – City and Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Newham, Waltham Forest, Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.
Our aim is to improve cancer outcomes for the population of north east London by enabling system wide pathway improvements, while focusing on the delivery of the key aims of the NHS 10 Year Plan.
North east London includes some of the most ethnically diverse and socio-economically deprived areas in the UK. The existing health inequalities in access to cancer services and outcomes had been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, and the Alliance is working to ensure these inequalities are addressed to reduce variations in treatment and survival.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Psychological Support Clinical Lead to drive and deliver our Psychological Support Development Plan across North East London. This is a unique opportunity to shape services that improve patient experience, reduce health inequalities, and strengthen the cancer workforce.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the Psychological Support Development Plan to ensure high-quality, equitable care for people affected by cancer.
- Reduce inequalities by embedding culturally competent and inclusive psychological support pathways.
- Integrate care with community services, fostering collaboration between acute, primary, and voluntary sectors.
- Join and contribute to the Cancer Alliance ERG Collaborative, working with system partners to innovate and share best practice.
About You
- Clinical background in psycho-oncology or clinical health psychology, mental health, or related discipline in the NHS.
- Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in service development and workforce training.
- Commitment to reducing inequalities and improving patient outcomes.

Working with North East London Cancer Alliance Programme Managers, the successful candidate will interrogate the psychological support pathway and identify / lead the delivery of the cancer alliance's Psychological Support Delivery and share progress and learning at the North East London Cancer Alliance Clinical Board and other Programmes Boards.
Successful candidates should demonstrate experience of successfully managing transformational projects from inception to completion within agreed timescales, along with a good knowledge of NHS services. The post holder will have the ability to work proactively, always maintaining a focus on patient outcomes.
