Homerton's Urgent Suspected Cancer Referral Toolkit

Homerton’s new Urgent Suspected Cancer (USC) toolkit for GPs in City and Hackney is available via this SharePoint webpage.

Access is only available to GPs and Primary Care Staff with an 'nhs.net' email address.

This toolkit is designed to help improve referral efficiency and to support conversations with patients in primary care so that they can prepare for their appointments and know what to expect.

Modernising cancer waiting times standards

From 1 October 2023, cancer waiting time standards are being modernised and simplified, moving to three measures. Read more on our dedicated page for GPs.

Patient information

You can download information leaflets for patients on two week wait referrals, available in different languages, from the Healthy London Partnership web page.

Urgent Suspected Cancer pathway: sending reminder texts via Accurx

A short video showing how to send reminder texts to patients via Accurx (as long as the messaging is used alongside other safety netting measures, such as the template) is available here: https://youtu.be/flq--MPnpuk

Bloods

Our colleagues in secondary care have asked that we please remind all GPs of the importance of bloods being available when patients are referred on the Urgent Suspected Cancer pathway.

Patient availability

Please remind patients that they need to be available for appointments when referred on the Urgent Suspected Cancer pathway. We are experiencing a number of missed or cancelled appointments due to patients being away on holiday.
