New skin cancer campaign launches in London

When the sun comes out, so do Londoners. But unlike us, harmful UV rays don’t wait for sunny days.

Did you know over 90% of UV rays pass through clouds, meaning your skin can be damaged even on grey, cool days. That damage builds and can increase your risk of skin cancer by nearly 80%.

To kick off Sun Awareness Week, we’re partnering with Skcin, a leading UK charity dedicated to skin cancer prevention, early detection and education, to launch LDN, Get Sun Set.

This campaign is to help people in north east London make sun-safe habits part of daily life, not just on sunny days.

Simple ways to protect your skin:

✅ Use SPF 30+ and reapply every 2 hours

✅ Stay in the shade between 11am–3pm

✅ Wear sunglasses, sleeves, and a hat

✅ Check the UV index — if it’s 3 or above, cover up!
