Self-sampling for cervical screening now available London-wide

As of 5 August 2026, all general practices across London are now able to participate in the HPV Self-Sampling for cervical screening (SelfScreen) pathway — a significant milestone in our ambition to eliminate cervical cancer by 2040.

Having launched with 100 practices in September 2025 and expanded to a further 200 practices and 10 non-GP sites in March 2026, the pathway is now available region-wide. This year alone, it is anticipated that 70,000 under-screened individuals will be offered HPV self-sampling.

Self-screening swabs will be offered opportunistically to women and people with a cervix who are never- or under-screened, with GP practices also able to proactively invite those at least six months overdue for cervical screening.
