NCPES Uptake stall at Newham Hospital
On a sunny Wednesday, the Cancer Alliance team held a successful awareness event at Newham General Hospital. Our main goal was to raise awareness about the National Cancer Patient Experience Survey (NCPES) and to increase participation. We also used this opportunity to engage with the community about information on our current campaigns and promote early testing for various cancer types.
The event was met with a warm and enthusiastic response from the public, many of whom showed a keen interest in learning more and asked thoughtful questions. Our team provided clear, informative answers and directed individuals to relevant educational leaflets for further reading.
The stall attracted a diverse audience, including those seeking general information, individuals concerned about symptoms, and people whose loved ones had been diagnosed with cancer.
Rita Majek, Communications and engagement project officer from North East London Cancer Allance, noted: "It was fantastic to see such strong community interest and engagement around the importance of cancer care and patient feedback."
A key success of the day was our ability to effectively communicate the importance of the NCPES and motivate attendees to share the survey link within their networks, particularly with those personally affected by cancer. This greatly extended the reach of our awareness efforts.
The event ended on a light note when a hospital staff member, appreciative of the team's work, treated us to ice lollies, a warm gesture that wrapped up a productive and impactful day of community engagement.
