HSJ Health and Care Intelligence Forum
Data is a key part of the work we do as a cancer alliance. It helps inform future activity, highlights key priorities, helps to reduce inequalities, tracks our performance and is invaluable in enabling us to improve local cancer services.
Femi Odewale, Managing Director of North East London Cancer Alliance, talked more about the importance of this in an engaging panel discussion at the HSJ Health and Care Intelligence Forum, which took place on 26 June at the International Convention Centre in Birmingham.
The session was called 'Utilising data and technology to drive effective service redesign' and Femi was joined by speakers from Leeds City Council and St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The panel discussion showed just how the patient experience can be improved by using the latest technology to support the workforce.
Described as a conference to explore how we can better utilise data to design and deliver efficient and effective services, this year’s forum built on the success of the launch event in December 2023. A range of health and care professionals, including CIOs, CDOs, social care leaders, health and data analysts, and board-level decision makers attended and discussed the strategic development of the data and analytics capabilities across the NHS.
The focus was on maximising the impact of data and analytics in driving smarter decision-making and generating a more efficient, preventative and personalised health and care system.
Femi said “We are aiming to be at the forefront of data and technology so we can continue to improve cancer care for our local residents. Attending - and speaking at - this forum was invaluable for the cancer alliance. I am always inspired by these discussions as they provide more ideas and opportunities that we can bring to north east London.”
