Connecting with the Community at East Ham Library

We had a fantastic and productive afternoon at East Ham Library, connecting with many wonderful members of the local community.

Invited by Newham Council, we were there to raise awareness of the local cancer services available and share information about the vital national cancer screening programmes that support early detection and better outcomes.

The event - called 'Thrive together: Better health for you and baby pop-up clinic' - took place on 15 July and featured a series of informative and engaging workshops, covering a range of essential health topics for families to improve their health and well-being.

We were thrilled by the interest from residents who stopped by our stand, eager to learn more about what we do and how to access support.

It was especially encouraging to see strong engagement from women wanting to stay physically active, and we were happy to provide leaflets with tips on how to help them keep fit and well.

We also took the opportunity to promote the upcoming Community Games in September, encouraging residents to get involved and stay active through fun, inclusive activities.

As Paul Thomas, communications Manager for the North East London Cancer Alliance said: “It’s always great to join up with local community services and meet residents face to face to talk about the importance of getting checked early and cancer screening programmes. We welcomed the opportunity to chat with local residents about the challenges they face when it comes to cancer, so that we can help to improve local services."
