Launch of Targeted Lung Health Check video

We have launched a short, animated video to help explain what happens at a lung health check and to show how quick and simple it is to have a scan of your lungs.

This is aimed at anyone who has been invited to attend, as part of the NHS Targeted Lung Health Check Programme.

The NHS Targeted Lung Health Check Programme is for people aged 55-74 who have ever smoked. Currently, we are inviting residents from Barking & Dagenham as part of a pilot in north east London. We will be extending this to other areas of north east London in the coming months.

A Targeted Lung Heath Check is a free MOT of the lungs. It finds out how well your lungs are working and aims to rule out any serious conditions. Often, early problems with the lungs do not cause any symptoms; therefore, it is important to attend even if you are fit and healthy.

Most of the time nothing is found, but if there are any problems with how your lungs are working, such as cancer, finding out early can make treatment simpler and more successful.
