Beautiful Ladies boost breast cancer awareness

Local community group, the Beautiful Ladies, hosted a brilliant event on Sunday 12 October to raise awareness of breast cancer. The event took place at 124 Mile End Road and brought together a large number of local ladies, dressed in pink to mark breast cancer awareness month.

Founded by Misba Ahmed, the group has thousands of followers across social media. They meet face-to-face regularly, which brings community members together to network, socialise, learn about important health topics and, above all, to have fun.

This event was no exception, with an array of tasty dishes on offer for an exquisite Sunday tea, whilst attendees learned about the key signs and symptoms of breast cancer and the importance of breast cancer screening.

Paul Thomas, Communications and Engagement Lead for North East London Cancer Alliance, attended the event to help get the conversations going about breast cancer and provided some of the cancer alliance resources for people to take home.

He commented: "This was a fantastic event to raise important awareness of breast cancer. It's encouraging to see local champions take the initiative to organise events such as these, and it's always a pleasure to support them on behalf of the cancer alliance."
