Cancer tests and treatments explained
Introduction
Welcome to our animated videos which help explain different cancer tests and treatments for patients.
These are available in a number of different languages via the links provided below.
For any queries relating to specific details of a personal test or treatment, patients should speak to their GP or cancer clinical nurse specialist, or use the contact details provided on their appointment letter.
Hysteroscopy
A hysteroscopy is a test where a doctor uses a thin tube with a light and camera (called a hysteroscope) to look inside the womb. It helps find the cause of problems like unusual bleeding, fibroids, polyps, or difficulty getting pregnant. The doctor can also use it to take a small tissue sample (biopsy) or remove small growths.

Polypectomy
A polypectomy is a small operation to remove a polyp, which is a lump or growth inside the body. The removed polyp is checked under a microscope to see whether it is harmless (benign) or if it could be cancerous.
