Womb cancer frequently asked questions
Does cervical screening also test for womb cancer?
No, this is not the case. Cervical screening is a test to help prevent cervical cancer and is incredibly important to attend. By finding anything early, it can be treated. There is currently no screening programme for womb cancer, which is why it is so important to understand the symptoms and to contact your GP if you think you have any.
Is any abnormal bleeding you get due to HRT adjustments something to go to your GP about?
The key thing here is that if there is unscheduled bleeding for more than 6 weeks after a change in HRT, then this should be reported and investigated. Once you stop HRT and are over the age of 51, then any abnormal bleeding should be reported to your GP.
How do visually impaired women tell if they have abnormal bleeding?
Some women might be able to tell on the odour of their bleeding/discharge. Another thing you could do if you are not sure is to wear a pad and ask a trusted family member or friend to look at it afterwards for you.
