Over 700 people attend The Girls' Bathroom to promote breast cancer awareness
More than 700 people attended The Girls' Bathroom, a community event delivered by Touchy Feely in partnership with NHS North East London Cancer Alliance (NELCA), on 18 July 2026 as part of Ethnic Minority Cancer Awareness Month.
Held in Shoreditch, the event transformed the venue into a vibrant and welcoming space where people could access trusted breast health information, speak directly with healthcare professionals, and take part in open conversations about cancer awareness and the importance of early diagnosis.
Designed to make conversations about breast health feel more accessible, the event featured interactive installations, health information stands, panel discussions, and opportunities for attendees to ask questions in a relaxed, non-clinical environment. The day brought together community members, clinicians, and local organisations, creating a safe space to learn more about breast cancer symptoms, screening, and the support available through the NHS.
The event highlighted the importance of taking cancer awareness into communities and delivering health messages in culturally relevant ways. By encouraging honest conversations and providing access to trusted information, The Girls' Bathroom helped break down barriers, challenge stigma, and empower people to feel more confident about recognising symptoms and seeking help early.
The positive response from attendees demonstrated the impact of community-led engagement in reaching underserved communities and improving awareness of breast health. The campaign will continue beyond the event through digital content and educational resources, helping to extend its reach and encourage more people to access information and support.
NELCA would like to thank Touchy Feely, healthcare professionals, community partners and everyone who attended for helping to make the event such a success.
