NELCA Connects with Local Communities at Havering Community Health and Wellness Event
On 5 August, the NHS North East London Cancer Alliance (NELCA) attended the Havering Community Health and Wellness Event, joining a wide range of local organisations dedicated to supporting the health and wellbeing of residents.
The event was well attended by families and served as a valuable hub for information on the services available across the borough. Attendees had the opportunity to speak with organisations including Live Well Havering, Talking Therapies and a variety of community groups, as well as enjoy healthy eating advice, children's craft activities and face painting.
Throughout the day, the NELCA team spoke with local residents ab
out the cancer screening programmes available across north east London, helping to raise awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and encouraging eligible people to take up their screening invitations. We also shared information on recognising the signs and symptoms of cancer and signposted visitors to further support and resources.
Events like these are an important part of NELCA's commitment to engaging with communities where they already are. By meeting people in familiar and trusted local spaces, we can raise awareness of cancer prevention and early diagnosis, encourage meaningful conversations, and ensure more people know where to access the information and support they need.
Thank you to everyone who visited our stall, and to the organisers for hosting such a successful community event.
