MDT article published in Frontiers Service Journal

Congratulations to Ellen Quinney from North East London Cancer Alliance, Benjamin Lamb from Barts Health NHS Trust, Tayana Soukup, PhD, CPsychol, FHEA, FRSPH from Imperial College London and Wasim Hamad from Barts Cancer Institute (Queen Mary University of London) for their article on developing a framework for Standards of Care for MDT streamlining implementation.

This has been published in Frontiers in Health Services Journal: https://lnkd.in/ePhCttTb

The article talks about how, as cancer services face increasing demand, growing clinical complexity and workforce pressures, NHS organisations are exploring new ways to ensure multidisciplinary team meetings (MDTs) focus on the patients who will benefit most from detailed discussion.

Their comprehensive review examines how Standards of Care can support MDT streamlining by helping teams identify which cases require full multidisciplinary discussion and which can safely follow agreed, evidence-based pathways.

By creating transparent decision-making frameworks across patient, pathology and treatment factors, MDTs can focus their expertise where it adds the greatest value, while supporting safe, consistent and sustainable cancer care.

As NHS cancer services continue to innovate, structured MDT reform plays an important role in improving efficiency without compromising quality.
