Community Comes Together at RESET Health Pop-Up in Barking and Dagenham
The RESET health and wellbeing pop-up event, held at Barking Learning Centre, brought together local residents, community organisations, and health partners for a busy and engaging day focused on wellbeing and prevention.
The event, hosted by London Borough of Barking and Dagenham, featured a wide range of interactive stands designed to support both physical and mental wellbeing. Attendees were able to enjoy activities such as nail painting and reflexology, alongside dedicated spaces for children to stay and play, as well as reading and learning tools to encourage family friendly engagement.
The North East London Cancer Alliance team spoke with a large number of local residents throughout the day. There was significant interest at the Cancer Alliance stand, with many people eager to learn more about cancer signs and symptoms, a
s well as the importance of taking part in national cancer screening programmes.
This was particularly timely, as the event took place during Cervical Cancer screening awareness week, providing an important opportunity to raise awareness, answer questions, and encourage women to take up their screening invitations.
The conversations had a real and immediate impact. At least three residents shared that they intended to go ahead and book their cancer screening appointments on the same day, highlighting the value of community based engagement and accessible health information.
